CCATF Chairman to attend Seddon 4th Annual ‘Building Skills’ Awards

As an organisation championing activities targeting the development of Apprentices within the construction sector, the CCATF are delighted to showcase the outstanding work being done by CCATF member - Seddon Construction Ltd.

Established in 1897 Seddon employs almost 800 people and are driven by a ‘family’ culture and the tangible desire to be the ‘go to’ contractor of choice for their clients.

Seddon is a business still successfully run by members of the Seddon family, is a strong advocate of Apprenticeships, an approach that CCATF fully endorse.

Seddon are now in the fourth year of their “Building Skills Awards” which recognises all learners within the company as well as those that have support those learners throughout their development. 

This year’s event, taking place in Manchester, will be attended by Martyn Price MBE, Chairman of the CCATF. Speaking about the event Martyn commented ‘It is great to be invited to participate in such an awards event. The time and effort invested by the Management, Staff and Apprentices within Seddon is first class and should be recognised as such. Events such as this highlight all the good work being undertaken to train and develop the construction workers and professionals of tomorrow’.

The awards event offers a number of categories of award, as follows:

Rising Star Award

This award is for all learners that are part way through a two-year level 2 qualification, and recognises the individuals transition into level 2 learning.

One to Watch

This award category applies to any of the learners completing a Level 2 qualification during the months January to December 2016

Apprentice of the Year

For an individual that is completing a Level 3 qualification during the months January to December 2016

High Achiever

Anyone completing Level 4 or above qualification during the months January to December 2016

Assessor the Year

An award recognising the very best individual within the context of the Assessor role

Inspiration Award

The award for anyone whom has aided a learner to develop and grow throughout their development

The awards are an opportunity for all learners to have their efforts recognised and each learner completing a qualification are all handed a certificate of achievement by the Managing Director, Jonathan Seddon. 

This event really is a celebration of progression, development and enhancing the Seddon work force.  Not only are all learners present, but company colleges, managing agents, managers, and Seddon’s own clients will be in attendance.

The CCATF acknowledges, and applauds the outstanding efforts of Seddon, its Management Team and employees for their efforts in recognising the talent within their business.

Apprenticeships and the young people that undertake them are underpinning elements of a successful, capable and progressive ‘UK PLc’ and equally the construction sector within that. The CCATF fully supports and endorses Seddon Construction Limited and wishes all award nominees the very best of luck!


The awards ceremony takes place on Friday 4th November in Eccles, Manchester.
